Young Divers Achieve Open Water Qualifications

A group of enthusiastic Lower Years and Removes pupils have successfully completed their SSI Junior Open Water Diver qualification after a series of practical and theory assessments throughout the year.

The qualification process included comprehensive theory sessions, rigorous pool training, and skills assessments. Their efforts culminated last weekend in a series of four open water dives at “The Lake,” a popular outdoor watersports venue situated in the scenic Cromhall Quarry, South Gloucestershire.

All pupils passed the course — a tremendous achievement that highlights their commitment and hard work.

The open water diving programme was delivered by DIVE90, a Cheltenham-based diving company with a longstanding relationship with the school. A team of seven master divers and instructors from DIVE90 accompanied the pupils throughout their underwater journey.

Many of the young divers have aspirations to continue their training, with some already considering future careers in marine biology.

Mrs Gamble and Dr Petchsingh would like to congratulate them all on their fantastic achievement.

Scuba Diving is part of the varied co-curricular programme offered at King’s, and takes place at the King’s Worcester Swimming Academy pool.
