U12 Hockey Conquer the County
Our U12 A and B Hockey teams competed at the U12 County Tournament this week.
The U12A girls started the afternoon with great energy during their warm-up, which translated into a strong start against Bromsgrove in their first game. The team was able to transfer the ball well between themselves, opening up space to drive forward and score their first goal. King’s then dominated the possession and executed their plan well. After going into the half-time break with a 3-0 lead, a quick team talk prepared them to return to the pitch and finish the game. They scored one more goal in open play, resulting in a final score of 4-0.
After a break in play due to the schedule, our second and final game was against RGS Worcester. Although we started a little startled, we certainly had the better of play. Our girls were awarded a short-corner for a foot, and Arya injected the ball to Cleo and Robyn. They then took a cracking strike of the ball, which secured our winning goal of the game. It’s worth noting that our superstar goalkeeper, Issie F, made some outstanding saves throughout the day, keeping a clean sheet for us in both games.
All eight of the girls made excellent contributions to the game, and it was lovely to see such good team cohesion throughout the afternoon. They will now progress to the regional round in the coming weeks.
The U12B team had a fantastic afternoon of hockey and made great connections up and down the pitch as a team . The were unfortunate not to get a win, with two narrow losses and two draws. They had plenty of shots on target, despite not managing to get them past the goalkeeper. It has been fantastic to see them go from strength to strength throughout the season so far.
