The King’s Worcester Foundation wishes to offer a supportive and practical conversation to MSJ families who may be considering their next steps for September. Where appropriate, we would be happy to discuss potential places across our schools and to answer any questions.

Cross Country Teams Excel at County Round of the ESAA Cross Country Cup

Last week, our cross country teams from Years 7 to Upper Sixth took part in the County Round of the English Schools Athletics Association (ESAA) Cross-Country Cup. This event is a team event where pupils earn points for their finishing position and then the points are added together to give the team their place in the competition. The first 2 teams in each age group compete in the West Central Regional Round.

The competition began under bright skies, with cool conditions creating perfect weather for cross-country running. However, the senior races faced torrential rain, adding an extra challenge to the already tough course.

In the Junior Girls’ (Years 7-8) race, the team put in a fantastic performance, finishing in 2nd place, just 5 points behind Bromsgrove. A special mention goes to Helena C, who led the race from start to finish and comfortably claimed 1st place.

The Junior Boys’ (Years 7-8) also showed great determination and teamwork, pushing each other to the line and securing 2nd place. Freddie P delivered a superbly timed race strategy to win the event.

In the Inter Girls’ (Years 9-10) race, the team gave a pleasing performance, finishing 3rd, just missing out on the next round. Sophie P earned special recognition for her strong 3rd-place finish.

The Inter Boys’ (Years 9-10) fought hard, finishing 3rd, narrowly missing the next stage by just 2 points. A standout performance came from James C, who finished in an impressive 2nd place.

For the Senior Girls (Years 11-13), the weather took a turn, with heavy rain making the race even more challenging. Despite the difficult conditions, the team delivered a brilliant performance, finishing in 1st place. Lucy T, in Year 11, ran exceptionally well to finish 2nd, a remarkable achievement considering her younger age in this category.

The Senior Boys (Years 11-13) faced a gruelling 6km course under the same tough conditions, but their resilience shone through as they finished in 2nd place.

We are thrilled to have four teams progressing to the next round after half-term and wish all our runners the very best of luck for the West Central Regional Round.
