Goals Galore for King’s Hockey Teams in Stunning Cup Performances
It has been a bumper couple of weeks for King’s hockey, with teams across the age groups playing in seven cup fixtures. The teams have won seven of the eight fixtures, scoring 35 goals and conceding just four – an incredible achievement!
The U13s played in the second round of the ISHC after a bye in the first round against Bromsgrove. It was an exciting game of hockey, with real quality shown by both sides.
We started slowly and found ourselves 2-0, but the girls kept playing their game and managed to get back into the lead with three well taken goals. With just five minutes to go, Bromsgrove scored a counter attack goal to take the game to tie the game at 3-3 and take it to penalty strokes. This was the first time the team had the opportunity to do penalties, and they just lost out scoring two of their three strokes and Bromsgrove scored all three. The team have progressed so much from last season and should be very proud of their performance.

King’s U13 Hockey Team
The U15s have played the first two rounds in the ISHC competition. The first round saw a 3-0 victory against Ratcliffe College, in what was a really positive performance with excellent hockey on display. The second round against RGS was a very close game with neither team managing to break the deadlock in normal time, sending it to penalty strokes. It was a particularly excellent performance from Zofia W in goal, which saw her save two strokes and gave King’s the victory.
The U19s played against Bromsgrove in the first round of the ISHC and played some great quality hockey. We created lots of goal scoring opportunities but were unable to break the deadlock, but with just a few minutes remaining of the game we won a penalty stroke, which was calmly slotted away by Hermoine, which saw the girls progress to the second round. We are looking forward to play against Bristol Grammar School in the next round of this cup.
The U14s played their first round fixture of the EH cup against Malvern College and started the game with real determination, scoring two early goals. They continued to display their quality hockey, making good passing connections meaning Malvern could not get close to them or gain possession of the ball. The team scored an impressive nine goals and only conceded one on the counter attack late on in the game to win 9-1.
The U16s set their marker out in the first round of the EH cup, beating Redmaids by an impressive 11-0. They worked very hard throughout the game and dominated possession with their effective passing game. It was a real showcase of the talent of the squad and is exciting to see how they get on in the next round against King’s Gloucester.
The U18s played against Bristol Grammar School in the ISHC cup. They travelled full of confidence after starting the season so positively and they put in another excellent performance. They started very strongly having a shot on target within the first minute of the game and they continued to dominate the early exchanges. This led to taking an early lead and then scoring another quick fire brace. At half time it was 5-0 but the girls did not let off and continued to press and win possession high up the pitch. The game ended 8-0 and it was an impressive team performance.
