Athletes Celebrate Success at Prestigious Events
King’s athletes have enjoyed a superb period of competition, delivering impressive performances at both the ESAA Track and Field Cup, the County Championships and the Mason Trophy.
From team success in the Midlands finals to individual medals, pupils demonstrated outstanding talent, determination and sporting spirit across a busy athletics programme.
ESAA Track and Field Cup
King’s athletes produced a series of excellent performances at the ESAA Track and Field Cup, with both the Junior Boys and Junior Girls teams earning their places in prestigious Midlands finals after impressive showings in the County round.
The Junior Boys qualified for the Midlands B Final, competing against schools ranked ninth to sixteenth in the region. The team gave a strong account of themselves, with many athletes recording their best performances of the season. Their hard work and determination saw them finish the day in fifth place. Special mention goes to the team’s top points scorers, Tom E in the 800m and Tom B in the discus, who both delivered outstanding contributions.
The Junior Girls also enjoyed notable success, qualifying for the Midlands A Final as one of the top eight schools in the region. Starting the day with the field events, a real strength of the team, the girls performed superbly and were sitting in third place after the field programme, just three points behind second.
Although the track events proved more challenging, the team continued to show great commitment and resilience, producing some excellent individual performances. They finished in seventh place overall, just ten points away from a top-five finish, and should be extremely proud of their achievement. Top points scorers for the Junior Girls were Jetta P in the hurdles, Amelia J in the shot and Helena C in the 800m.
Congratulations to all the athletes who represented King’s with such determination, teamwork and sporting spirit throughout the competition.

A huge well done to all the King’s athletes who competed, represented Worcester City with distinction, and contributed to such a superb set of results.
We are also delighted that 3 athletes have earned a place in the Hereford & Worcestershire team to compete at the English Schools’ Track and Field Championships. This is the highest level of competition athletes can compete at and requires athletes to meet very tough qualification standards. We wish the 3 athletes the best of luck when they compete at The Alexander Stadium on the 10th and 11th July.
