Intrepid Pupils Complete Bronze DofE

Eighty-one adventurous and determined Upper Remove pupils spent two days in the sunny Cotswolds completing their Bronze DofE Award assessed expedition last weekend, carrying everything they needed on their backs.

One cohort were based around Broadway and Winchcombe, staying at Hayles Fruit Farm overnight, whilst the rest were based around Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh, camping at Stow Rugby Club. They were accompanied by Mrs Beard, Mr Cuthbertson, Mr Ison, Mrs Rutter and Mrs Roberts at Hayles, and Ms Rhodes, Mr Branchett, Mr Jackson, Dr Petchsingh and Mrs Kent at Stow.

Despite the hot conditions, pupils worked well in their groups to navigate their routes, set up and break camp, cook their dinner and breakfast and investigate their team goal, all fuelled by copious snacks, singing, morale boosting humour and even the building of a fairy house!

Well done to all those pupils involved; they showed great initiative and perseverance and for 60 of them, this marks the completion of their Bronze DofE award, having already completed their Physical, Volunteering and Skills sections.
