Action-Packed Football Development Tour to Manchester
As soon as term ended on Saturday 13th December, 21 pupils from Fifth Form, Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth embarked on an unforgettable football development tour to Manchester.
The group enjoyed a fully packed schedule, beginning with elite training at the world-class Etihad Campus, home to Manchester City’s academy and first team. Pupils took part in three intense sessions designed to develop tactical understanding and technical skills under the guidance of professional academy coaches.
One of the highlights of the trip came when Josko Gvardiol, Croatian international and Manchester City defender, joined the group for an exclusive Q&A session. Pupils had the chance to ask questions and gain insights from a top-level professional before capturing a memorable group photo.
The tour also included behind-the-scenes visits to two iconic stadiums: Etihad Stadium, home of Manchester City, and Old Trafford, steeped in history as the home of Manchester United. To experience the excitement of a football match, the group attended a League One fixture at Edgeley Park, watching Stockport County take on Stevenage FC in a lively atmosphere.
Pupils were also treated to a thrilling Women’s Super League match, where Manchester City Women secured a dominant 6-1 victory over Aston Villa Women. The touring party also played a competitive match against local league opposition, providing valuable experience and preparation for the upcoming season.
This action-packed tour offered pupils a unique blend of elite training, cultural experiences and live football at every level, an inspiring trip that will undoubtedly benefit their development both on and off the pitch.
