Athletes Impress Across the Board at ESAA Cup

Junior Girl, Junior Boy, Inter Girl and Inter Boy teams competed in the English Schools Athletics Association (ESAA) Track and Field Cup earlier this week, with fantastic results across the board.

This is a unique event where every member of the team has to compete in both one track event and one field event, which adds an extra dimension to the competition, particularly when it comes to the relays.

Everyone gave their absolute best, and it was fantastic to see several pupils achieving personal bests.

A special mention goes to the following pupils who scored over 30 points in their combined events:

Junior Boys – Tom B, Harry C, Thomas E and Isacc P

Junior Girls – Harriet B, Helena C, Amelia J, Holly J and Jetta P.

Inter Boys – George LP and Jack M

Inter Girls – Georgia K, Elsie S and Emily S

We delivered an impressive overall set of results, showcasing depth and consistency. Competing against a strong field of schools from across the region, we secured second for the Junior Girls and Junior Boys, third for the Inter Girls and fourth for the Inter Boys out of the seven schools competing.

Lora Miller-Symonds, Director of Athletics, said: “The ESAA is a fantastic competition, which allows the athletes to compete as part of a team. It really was great to see the progress they have made throughout the season and the willingness of pupils to step up and try a new event to gain points for the team.”
