CCF Cadets Undertake Specialist Skills Training

Over thirty CCF Cadets have taken part in a range of specialist training sessions over recent weeks, developing skills from marksmanship to water rescue amongst others.

CCF Range Day

Sixteen cadets and staff participated in a full day of marksmanship training at RAF Cosford, focusing on developing precision shooting skills and applying key marksmanship principles.

The day began with training on grouping techniques, where cadets honed their ability to fire consistent, controlled shots. With expert coaching and practice, they improved their understanding of the marksmanship principles.

Cadets then progressed to scored shoots, putting their skills to the test under assessment conditions. As a result of their performance, several cadets were awarded Trained Shot and Marksman qualifications, reflecting their skill and accuracy on the range.

The day was a great success, enhancing the cadets’ confidence, discipline, and marksmanship abilities in a safe and supportive environment.

CCF Adventurous Training Camp

Twenty cadets and staff took part in an exciting four-day Adventurous Training camp across Shropshire and North Wales, developing vital outdoor skills and teamwork in a range of challenging environments.

The camp began with a fascinating session led by West Mercia Search and Rescue. Cadets learned about the crucial role the team plays in emergency response, explored the specialist equipment they use, and took part in hands-on training, including throw bag rescue techniques, which are essential in water rescue situations.

The group had time at Coed y Brenin, where they undertook the Minotaur mountain biking route. This followed focused skills sessions that helped improve their control, confidence and trail riding ability. The adrenaline continued at Llanymynech Quarry, where cadets challenged themselves through climbing and abseiling activities, building personal confidence and trust in their team.

The camp concluded at Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) with a fun and engaging water sports day. Cadets enjoyed getting wet while learning and practicing skills in kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding. The day was filled with games, laughter, and new experiences on the water.

The camp was a fantastic opportunity for cadets to develop resilience, leadership and teamwork through outdoor adventure, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
