Cleobury Concert Delights Audience in College Hall
This term’s Cleobury concert featured the Chamber Choir perform alongside a number of talented soloists in historic College Hall.
The concert opened with two pieces performed earlier this term by the Chamber Choir in Gloucester Cathedral; the gentle anthem Thou Wilt Keep Him by Wesley and Dyson’s Nunc Dimittis in D.
A wide range of solos followed, performed by pupils from Lower Remove through to Upper Sixth, showcasing music spanning three centuries. Jessica B’s beautiful unaccompanied flute sonata by C.P.E. Bach was perfectly suited to the acoustic of College Hall. Three pupils, Samantha C, Belinda B and John E, also performed one of their pieces from their forthcoming Grade 8 exams, which take place next week. We wish them, and everyone else taking exams, the very best of luck.
There was also a delightful bassoon trio performed by Jasmine S, Alex F and Mrs Allsop, who played a charming arrangement of the children’s song Round the Mulberry Bush.
The Cleobury Concert concluded with the Chamber Choir performing a lively and fun rendition of the traditional tune Frog Went A-Courtin’, finishing with the singers throwing their copies into the air, bringing the concert to an energetic and memorable close.
