Supporting Malvern St James Families

We are sorry to hear the news regarding Malvern St James School and recognise how difficult and unsettling this will be for its community.

The King’s Worcester Foundation wishes to offer a supportive and practical conversation to MSJ families who may be considering their next steps for September. Where appropriate, we would be happy to discuss potential places across our schools and to answer any questions.

Contact us confidentially to arrange a conversation.

Cleobury Concert Delights Audiences

This term’s Cleobury Concert featured ten soloists, a string trio and the Chamber Choir in an eclectic mix of music from Henry Purcell to Eva Cassidy. Matteo S opened the concert with a strong solo violin performance of a piece which he is preparing for his Grade 8 examination. Other string items included a melody by Rossini, played by Sophie J on the double bass, and a powerful performance of Svenson’s Romanza.from Sophie R.

Musical Theatre performances included one from Molly B, with a song from Beauty and the Beast, a ballad from Bonnie and Clyde from Flo S, and Marcus N’s lively rendition of Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat from Guys and Dolls.

Hannah B’s voice was perfectly suited to a haunting rendition of the Eva Cassidy version of Somewhere.

A string trio of Sophie R, Anna G and Sophie J performed a light-hearted piece called Bach at the Double, which they had learnt for their GCSE Music ensemble recording.

The Chamber Choir finished the evening with three contrasting folk jazz arrangements by Bob Chilcott.

The next Music Department event is a concert in Worcester Cathedral on Thursday, 14th March, which will feature the Lower Years Choir, The King’s St Alban’s Chamber Choir and 150 pupils from local primary schools. The concert is called Nature Sings and will be conducted by Director of Music, Simon Taranczuk, who has been visiting five primary schools this term. Tickets are free but need to be booked in advance via this link
