Junior Girls’ Team Qualifies for National Swimming Finals
The national results of the divisional ESSA Team Relays Championships have been published, and we are delighted that one of King’s Worcester’s relay teams has secured an outstanding qualification place at the 2026 National Finals!
With the ESSA Team Championships open to secondary schools and colleges across England, qualifying for the national finals is always a difficult and significant achievement. This is particularly true for King’s this year, as many of the swimmers are competing in the younger year of their respective age groups.
However, following their excellent performances in the qualifying round, the Junior Girls’ A team of Angela O’C, Ellie R, Pippa P and Thea E have secured an exceptional fourth place nationally out of 252 teams in the 4 x 50m Freestyle relay. The team also achieved an impressive 16th place in the 4 x 50m Medley relay. These outstanding results mean that the girls will now go on to represent King’s at the ESSA’s 68th Secondary Schools’ Team Championships National Finals!
The finals will take place on Saturday 21 November at Sandwell Aquatics Centre. The girls will have the exciting opportunity to go head-to-head with some of the best school swimming teams in the country, and everyone at King’s will be wishing them the very best of luck.
Although King’s other relay teams missed out on qualification, there were plenty of other impressive placings, with several teams finishing inside the top 100 schools in the country.
The Intermediate Girls’ A team secured 87th place nationally out of 224 teams in the 4 x 50m Freestyle relay, as well as 109th in the Medley relay. The Senior Girls’ A team also performed strongly, finishing joint 56th nationally out of 147 teams in the Freestyle relay and an excellent 48th in the Medley relay.
Meanwhile, the Junior Boys’ A team finished 68th out of 191 teams nationally in the Freestyle relay and 72nd in the Medley relay. The Intermediate Boys’ A team achieved 90th place nationally out of 168 teams in the Freestyle relay, alongside an impressive 55th in the Medley relay. The Senior Boys’ A team also secured respectable national rankings, finishing 95th in the Freestyle relay and 82nd in the Medley relay.
King’s B and C teams also recorded some encouraging results, demonstrating the strength and depth of swimming talent across the school. The full national results can be found on the ESSA Secondary Team Championships website.
A huge well done once again to all the King’s pupils who represented the school so well at the divisional round. Their commitment, teamwork and determination have been rewarded with some excellent national rankings, and it is particularly exciting that the Junior Girls’ A team will now have the opportunity to compete on the national stage.
Everyone at King’s will be cheering Angela, Ellie, Pippa and Thea on as they prepare to represent the school at the National Finals on Saturday 21st November. Best of luck, girls!
