County Tennis Success for Lower Remove Pupil Jack

Following Jack B’s (LR) success at the Road to Wimbledon Competition earlier in the summer, where he played at The All England Lawn Tennis Club and was just one of 48 boys from across the country to get this incredible opportunity, Jack performed really well at the Hereford & Worcester County Tennis Closed Championship at Manor Park last week.

He competed in the 14&U singles and 14&U doubles competitions at the County Tennis Championship, winning both. Jack and his partner were eventually the victors, after enduring a marathon championship tie-break 14-12. Alongside this, he also competed in the 16&U competition; this provided a different challenge for Jack as he was competing against boys who were much older and stronger. Despite this he was successful in reaching the quarter finals in the singles competition and the semi-finals in the doubles, an amazing achievement!

Jack also competes for school and helped his team in the summer term beat Bromsgrove in a Division One match, allowing them to progress onto the next round. Jack was playing students two years above him and won his Division One singles match, which set the ball rolling for a positive fixture.

Jack is now involved in the Athlete Development Programme at school, and has found the Strength & Conditioning sessions over the summer particularly beneficial; he now realises that physicality is becoming increasingly important as he seeks to improve further.

Jack is looking forward to playing much more tennis for KSW this term and to further involvement with the ADP.
