Summer Sporting Successes for King’s Pupils

We are so proud to report an outstanding array of sporting successes for King’s pupils this summer.

George (FF, Br) , Laurie (FF, Cl) and Sam (FF, Ca) : Rugby

Huge congratulations to Fifth Form pupils George T, Sam H & Laurie C, who were selected to play for Worcester Warriors U17 team in the RFU U17 Festival.

The squad played three games against London Irish, Wasps and Bristol, in which they were undefeated.

The RFU tournament takes place every summer as various Premiership Academies meet together and play multiple games against each other over a number of days. This year it was held at Malvern College.

Oli H(UR, Cr) – Biathlon

Upper Remove pupil, Oli H was, this summer, invited to the Biathlon National Tier Two Squad. This is the highest national squad that he can be selected for at his age, as Tier 1 spend six months of the year aboard.

Oli qualified for the team when he competed in the Team GB Nordic and Biathlon trials. He absolutely stormed Phase Two and was invited to Stage Three, where he was in the last 50 and up against other athletes up to the age of 25. Oli was concerned about the skiing element of the trial as he had only been skiing once before (at the age of four!) but clearly his practice and hard work paid off at the trials as he was selected for the Tier Two Squad.

Oli will now go to a week-long training camp in August and is likely to go abroad a few times this winter for snow training.

Well done to Oli! We are so excited to watch his biathlon journey progress this year.

Holly W (L6, Cr) – Eventing

Holly W (L6, Cr) qualified for the UK Pony Club National Eventing Championships and later competed in the Championships at Bishop Burton

She was one of 10 athletes representing the region and, with only eight regions in the country, that placed her in the top 80 for this level (BE100).

Bishop Burton is a very impressive venue at which to compete and it was a very challenging course.

Well done to Holly on this fantastic achievement.

Hayden S : Golf

Hayden won the US Kids British Kids Championship 2021, which was played at Woodhall Spa. This win meant that Hayden retained the title after his win at the 2019 championship.

The Championship was set over two days; during a slow Round One in windy conditions, Hayden scored +4 , two shots behind the leader, but a solid Round Two score of +1 secured him the win.

A huge well done to Hayden! Hayden will be joining us at King’s Senior in September from our Prep School, King’s Hawford, and we look forward to following his golf journey throughout his time at King’s Senior.

Jack B (U4) : Tennis

It was fantastic to hear about Jack’s B (U4) success in the 14&U County Tennis Finals. He was selected to head to Wimbledon to play at The All England Lawn Tennis Club, where he played in the Road to Wimbledon Competition.

Jack was one of just 48 boys across the country to get this incredible opportunity after qualifying from the County tournament.

What an amazing opportunity, Well done to Jack.

Jasmine F (L6, S) : Netball

Jaz has been selected to attend the England Netball Roses Academy Positional Workshop.

Jaz has been a keen and talented netball player for King’s as well as playing for King’s Worcester’s Nova squad and last season playing for the Severn Stars U19 squad, which she was also selected for again for their upcoming 2021-2022 season.

We hope she enjoys the opportunity and we look forward to seeing where her netball career will go next.

Amy H (FF, Br) : Hockey

Amy H was selected for the U18 Wales Hockey team for their upcoming Futures Cup Competition which was played from 26th – 28th August.

Amy earned her first U18 Welsh Cap back in June where she was the youngest player in the squad.

We wish Amy the best of luck in future competitions.

It has been fantastic hearing about, and be able to celebrate, all these pupils’ summer sporting successes in their co-curricular lives outside of school. We are very proud of all of their achievements.

Please do let us know at or inform your House / Form Tutors if you have any achievements you would like to share, whether this is in sport, music, the academic or anything else; we are sure the King’s Family would love to hear about it.
