Crews Travel to Dorney Lake for Metropolitan Regatta

Two King’s crews travelled to the Metropolitan Regatta at Dorney Lake to compete in what is a major senior event on the annual rowing calendar.

Our Girls Coxed Four of Amelia V, Rebecca N, Emily A, Sophie E and Emelia S competed in the academic fours race against university and senior women and came eight in their time trails, then had a brilliant B-Final contested between all women’s four entries. The race saw a great battle with rivals Shiplake College all the way down the 2000 metre course resulting in King’s taking honours and second in the final.

The Senior Bosy Quad Scull came 18th in their time trial and into the D-Final with all the men’s entrants combined in the finals. Their final saw them contest the leading spots during the early part of the race, but they had to settle for 5th as the stronger crews pulled away in the closing stages.

It was also fantastic to see to see Mr Hemming rowing with Evesham RC at the Metropolitan Regatta, along with many OVs involved over the weekend.

Our younger crews now look towards Stratford Junior Sprint Regatta, while the senior rowers focus on their Henley campaigns.
