Netballers Claim Victory at Sevens Tournament
Our 1st team netballers delivered an outstanding performance at the Bristol Grammar School Sevens Tournament recently, finishing the day unbeaten and deservedly crowned champions.
The team dominated the group stages, scoring an incredible 125 goals and conceding just 35, against strong opposition from across the Midlands and South West. From the outset, the girls were focused on getting ahead early in games and, importantly, staying ahead. Their consistency, intensity, and control set the tone for the day.
A composed semi-final performance saw them overcome Sherborne, earning a place in the final against QEH. In a high-quality contest, the squad showcased exactly what has defined their season so far; clear understanding of structure, and the skill level to adapt when needed. The live-stream commentary repeatedly highlighted their composure, tactical discipline, and the evident togetherness within the squad.
Throughout the day, there were excellent combinations across court, with players rotating seamlessly and making the most of valuable court time. Just as importantly, the tournament provided positive team bonding moments, including time spent supporting the rugby Sevens teams, which added to the strong sense of unity across the group.
The support on the sidelines was phenomenal. A large and passionate parent fan base created a brilliant atmosphere, cheering the girls on at every opportunity. A special mention must go to Karl, our bus driver, who has a 2/2 winning record with the team. Clearly our new good luck charm!
To round off a memorable day, the girls thoroughly enjoyed being interviewed about their success, speaking confidently about their performances and what the achievement meant to them.
An exceptional team performance and a fantastic representation of the school – well done to all involved.
