GCSE Results 2023

King’s School Worcester is delighted to celebrate the achievements of its Year 11 students in this year’s GCSE exams.

The headline statistics are very heartening, with 62% of entries receiving grades of 9-7 and 40% of all grades being 9 or 8. 30% of this year’s cohort received 10 or more top grades of 9-7.

There were some impressive results in creative subjects, with 9-7 grades achieved by 90% of pupils in Art, 88% in DT and 88% in Music. In addition, King’s pupils also excelled in English and German, with 76% and 70% respectively achieving 9-7. Two-thirds of the cohort achieved 9-7 in Maths.

Headmaster, Gareth Doodes, celebrated the journey that the pupils have taken: “We are very proud of this group of devoted and enthusiastic pupils, who have delivered some remarkable results this year. We must not forget that from Year 8, the education of this cohort of fine pupils has been significantly disrupted by the pandemic, yet they have not been found wanting.

As well as working for their GCSEs, they have participated in myriad co-curricular activities that showcase their commitment to learning and personal development. Their achievements are testament to their unwavering dedication and hard work, and we look forward to welcoming them, along with our new joiners to the Sixth Form, back in September to begin their A-level journey. Congratulations to them all.”

Special mentions go to keen netballer Millie Dobson and gold medal rower Ellie Cartwright, who both achieved a clean sweep of grade 9s across all 11 subjects. Caitlin Clements achieved 12 grades 9-7 and Joseph James, who earlier this year was awarded a place in the National Youth Choir, and Connor Yates were both celebrating today after receiving an impressive nine 9s and 2 8s.
