Head of Swimming Set to Cause Waves

King’s Worcester is delighted to announce that Chris Jenkinson has been appointed as the new Head of Senior School Swimming, starting from September 2024. Chris joined the King’s School Foundation in September 2023 as the Sports Coach at Prep School, King’s St Alban’s.

Chris, a Worcester native, graduated from The University of Worcester with an honorary teaching degree and is a qualified Specialist PE Teacher. With twenty years of experience teaching and coaching PE and school sports across Worcestershire, Chris brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. His extensive background in swimming includes competing at County, Midland, National, and International levels for Droitwich Swimming Club, Worcester Swimming Club, Worcestershire County Swimming Association, and Great Britain’s Masters’ Team at the European Swimming Championships.

Chris’s passion for swimming is clear through his roles as a lifeguard, swimming teacher, and current coach at Worcester Swimming Club. He also served as Club Captain at Droitwich Dolphins Swimming Club, where he still holds several club records.

Reflecting on his new role, Chris added, “This is an exciting time, and I am really looking forward to helping to nurture the pupils’ passion and love for swimming at King’s. I am excited about being able to develop the School’s swimming provision further through a variety of opportunities, including additional morning and after-school swimming sessions, swimming festivals, and an increased number of competitive swimming galas.”

Chris’s appointment marks a significant step for King’s Worcester Swimming Academy, promising enhanced swimming programmes and fostering a deeper passion for the sport among pupils.
