U12 & U13s reach the Hockey Midlands Finals

Our U12 and U13 (Lower Fourth and Upper Fourth) hockey teams each had a brilliant time at the Worcestershire County Hockey Tournament, with both teams qualifying for the Hockey Midlands Finals.

The U12 team were crowned County Champions at the Tournament, which resulted in them qualifying for the Midlands Finals. They dominated their pool, winning the group, and faced Bromsgrove School in the semi-finals, where they sadly lost.  The girls gave an excellent account of themselves and the defeat was very narrow. However, they had a positive experience and look forward to improving next season.  The girls have made wonderful progress throughout the year, and this has been a testament to their commitment to training at school and at external hockey clubs.

The U13 team were crowned runners-up at the County Tournament. The girls faced a challenging group: they beat Repton, Packwood House, Solihull School and Toothill School, drew with Oakham and lost to Denstone College. However, their performance meant that they progressed to the semi-final, where obtaining a place in the Midlands Finals would come down to goal difference. At the end of the pool games, both Repton and King’s were equal on goal difference. Repton took first place in the group on goals scored. King’s went on to face King’s High, Warwick, who had topped the other pool. King’s sadly lost to King’s High, who then went on to win the whole tournament. However, this result still meant King’s Worcester qualified for the Midlands Finals, which was held at Rugby School.

The girls’ attitude and support of each other throughout the day was inspiring. They have been a pleasure to coach and observe this season. The U13s have made such progress this season, and this was on display at the Midlands Finals, a competition they did not qualify for as U12s!
