Individual Fencing Competition Success

Luke Mein is to be congratulated on coming 5th (out of 28) in last Sunday’s individual Fencing Competition at King Edward’s School, Birmingham, with Louie Lee second in his pool despite relative inexperience.

The progress of all our KSW fencers remains impressive. They are our youngest cohort ever with two senior fencers in the Fifth Form and a dozen increasingly effective younger members whose rapidly accumulating experience at the Individual Fencing Competition bodes very well for the future. They competed against a much older and more experienced RGS team at the start of this half term and proved a good match in the foil, in which the final game just allowed RGS to pip us to the post 45-43. Sabre and epee are coming on well too and although RGS dominated overall (with one Sixth Form competitor twice as long as our smallest Lower Years star), we look forward to closing the gap before the return match at RGS next term.
