King’s Footballers going strong in Cup Runs

King’s Worcester 1st team footballers continue strongly in their Cup runs this season.

On Wednesday, they played The Oratory School to progress to the last 16 of the Independent School FA U18 Shield. It proved to be an excellent performance, with some great play by the team. The team made a strong start to the game but were unable to take their chances and the opposition took the lead against the run of play.

Following this disappointment, the team reacted well and managed to equalise and end the first half 1-1.

After the restart, King’s put the opposition’s defence under greater pressure and created a greater number of chances, four of which they managed to convert to goals. In the end, King’s ended up taking the victory with a 5-2 win. Goals came from O Powell, T Pinner, R Clason, T Poole and an Own Goal.

This improved performance was the perfect response to the disappointment of bowing out of the Boodles Independent School FA U18 Cup, where impressively the team had reached the last 28 of this prestigious Cup before finally succumbing to a defeat by Harrodian in London.

As well as the last-16 cup match in the Independent Schools FA U18 Shield, the team also has the County Cup U18 Quarter Finals to look forward to next week.

It has been a very exciting start of the season for the footballers, who also have a 5-day training camp coming up in Real Madrid’s Academy in Spain during the Christmas holiday.

The team would like to thank PHS Pro Handling Solutions for supporting them with the tour kit.
