King’s Swimmers Shine at Worcester County Championships

Over the past three weekends, a number of Senior School pupils have taken part in the 2025 Worcester County Championships in the Commonwealth Games pool at Sandwell Aquatics Centre.

In total, 24 King’s pupils qualified for these annual championships, which is a wonderful achievement. Several more pupils from King’s Hawford and King’s St. Alban’s also took part, demonstrating the talent currently extending across the King’s Foundation.

All of the pupils swam extremely well and there were plenty of outstanding results, with the KSW Swimming Academy pupils achieving personal best times, qualifying for their age group finals, and finishing in medal positions.

Ben G won the 50m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke and 50m Backstroke, achieving an outstanding British Championships qualification time, on his way to becoming County Champion in these events, as well as achieving 2nd places in the 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly, 200m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle, just being touched out by fellow KSW pupil, Harry C.

As well as becoming County Champion in the 100m and 200m Butterfly, 400m Individual Medley and 50m Butterfly, Harry also won the 100m, 200m and 800m Freestyle, as well as placing 2nd in the 1500m Freestyle and 3rd in the 50m Freestyle.

This meant that Harry C finished the 2025 Worcester County Championships with seven county championship titles and British championship times to his name – an incredible achievement that we are very proud of.

Fellow Sixth Form student, Grace E, secured 1st place in the 200m Breaststroke and 2nd place in the 50m Breaststroke in her respective age category.

Following in the footsteps of our Sixth Form swimmers, there was further medal success for:

  • Dylan L – County Champion in his age group for 50m Backstroke, and 2nd in the 50m Freestyle
  • Catherine H – 2nd in the 800m  Freestyle and 3rd in the 50m and 100m Backstroke
  • Fliss T – 3rd in the 400m Individual Medley
  • Sam M – 2nd in the 100m Butterfly and 3rd in the 50m Butterfly
  • Aled L – 3rd in the 400m Individual Medley
  • Grace R – 3rd in the 200m Breaststroke

Freddie P, Hattie T, Mia G, Lucie E, Isaac P, Rowan T and Cerys G all swam well and achieved one or more PBs.

Mia G, Amelia B, Matthew P, Grace R, Aled L, Sophie E, Helena C, Harry C, Sam M, Teddy C, Alex M and Joseph O’ L also set PBs and qualified for the age group final in their respective events too.

Chris Jenkinson, Head of Swimming, said: “All the pupils swam extremely well during the Championships, and we are incredibly proud of them. It is clear their work and dedication in training, both through the KSW Swimming Academy programme, as well as in their own respective programmes outside of school, is really paying off.”

Well done to all our swimmers on some exceptional performances.
