King's Worcester

King’s Young Enterprise Teams are “naturals” for success.

Last Thursday, the four members of the King’s School’s Young Enterprise company La Vie Naturelle took part in the local area Showcase Event of the Company of the Year Award and won through to the county final.

This was the final element of the competition, which had previously required the students to submit a written report and take part in an online interview. More than 10 companies presented the panel of judges with an account of their successful journeys, including a description of their highs and lows and what they felt they had learned through the process to date.

Our company started off in October by making “Match Attax” type cards for the King’s v RGS Modus Rugby match, then produced Christmas ornaments, including decorations for children to colour in and bottles filled with strings of lights.

After Christmas, half the group bowed out due to other pressures but, with commendable resilience, the four remaining students produced a self-care box with contents including a bamboo toothbrush, a wooden comb, and a natural shampoo bar.  Their future aim is to develop this into a subscription service, providing monthly boxes which will be bespoke to each individual customer. Mrs Rachel Rutter, our Young Enterprise Coordinator, added, “The judges were particularly impressed with their ideas for a subscription service for their self-care box, which made it stand out from other products and helped them to win the Sales and Marketing Award.”

As well as receiving that award, The King’s team now progress through to the Worcestershire Final, which will be held on Wednesday 8th May. We wish them all the best with their continued success.
