Lower Years Pupils Impress in Energetic Music Competition

This week saw the annual spectacle of the Lower Years Music Competition take place in College Hall.

A delightful morning of solo performances by our Year 7 and Year 8 pupils had the adjudicator, Mr Steve McDade, scratching his head as he tried to narrow down his selection of winners and runners up.

In the Year 7 vocal class he couldn’t divide Iza McG-P and Zara W, and declared them joint winners. Likewise in the Year 8 instrumental class, Emily S and Shreya V were joint winners. Other stars of the day were Darcy B, Jess K, Elizabeth N, Evie R and Georgia L. All of these pupils returned to perform at a delightful Winners’ Concert.

The afternoon offered excitement and talent in abundance as the eleven Year 7 and 8 classes went head-to-head in the form song competition. The outfits were imaginative, the dance moves impressive, and the singing energetic and entertaining.

The forms reprising their performances in the Winners’ Concert were:

Lower Fourth:
1st – L4D – ‘Sweet Caroline’
2nd – L4C – ‘Hold My Hand’

Upper Fourth:
1st – U4E – ‘Mr Blue Sky’
2nd – U4C – ‘Party in the USA’

This event has provided a fantastic, musical start to the year for the Lower Years, and bodes well for the musical future of the school.
