National Plate Progression for King’s XI Hockey Team
On the 10th of January, the King’s First Hockey team faced Bradford Grammar School in Round Three of the Smile Independent School Hockey Cup National Plate. After a long four-hour drive, the girls completed a good warm-up before the game and enjoyed a motivating team talk that helped them start the first half with high intensity.
Although the score remained 0-0 at the half-time break, the team made strong connections and worked hard throughout the first 30 minutes. The first goal came from an impressive run by Bryony G, breaking the deadlock and putting Bradford on the back foot.
The girls battled to keep possession during a tough period of play, with several defensive corners in a row. After 55 minutes of intense hockey, Ruby C scored the second goal, securing the victory for King’s Worcester.
We are excited to find out who we have drawn in the Quarter-Finals.

U18 Mixed Hockey
Also this week the U18 Mixed Hockey team played their first fixture of the season on Wednesday against Pates Grammar School. As a newly formed squad, they were excited to get on the pitch and display their skills. The boys and girls worked well together, which proved a challenge for the opposition, as King’s combined speed, agility and skill to attack with intensity and were in possession of the ball for much of the game. As the game progressed, we played with more structure and better connections; the first half ended 1-0, putting King’s in the lead and giving the players the confidence they needed to secure a 2-0 win by the end of the game.
