National Swimming Success Earns Ted Regional Selection

King’s swimmer, Ted C, has enjoyed a superb run of success in the pool, winning two silver medals at the Swim Wales Welsh National Swimming Championships.

Competing at the Welsh Summer Nationals, Ted secured second place in both the 800m and 1500m freestyle – an outstanding double achievement in two of swimming’s most demanding events.

His recent performances have also earned him selection for the Swim England West Midlands Regional Development Programme for 2026-27. Ted is one of up to 24 boys chosen from 71 swimming clubs across the region, with just 12 places available in his age group.

As part of the programme, he will attend two development camps at Sandwell Aquatics Centre, taking place on 17 October and 5 June.

Ted’s selection follows an impressive set of regional rankings. At the age of 13, he is ranked third in the West Midlands in both the 800m freestyle, with a time of 10:18.82, and the 1500m freestyle, in 19:45.47.

He is also ranked 14th in the region in the 200m individual medley, recording a time of 2:45.07 in the event used to select swimmers for the development programme.

His strength across a range of strokes is reflected in further top ten regional rankings in the 50m and 100m backstroke, as well as the 100m freestyle.

This is a fantastic and thoroughly deserved achievement, recognising the time, effort and commitment Ted continues to dedicate to his swimming. Congratulations, Ted!
