Netball Cup Campaigns off to a Flying Start

Netball teams across the age groups have started their cup campaigns with grit, determination, and a huge amount of talent on display.

In a week that saw L6 student pupil, Elise P, called up to Scotland’s U17s squad, and with numerous selections coming through for County and Pathway teams, there is certainly much to be proud of on the King’s netball courts.

U18 v Crypt – Sisters n Sport

Our team delivered a strong performance from the first whistle, setting the tone early with a focused and structured start. We remained consistent with our game plan, trusting each other across the court and maintaining composure under pressure.

We edged ahead in the first quarter, leading by five goals. That momentum continued into the second quarter, with smart decision-making and disciplined execution extending our lead to six by halftime. Despite strong defensive pressure from the opposition, we stayed composed and stuck to our structures.

In the third quarter, we built on our lead once again, pushing the margin out to seven. Our ability to adapt under pressure and make smart choices with the ball proved crucial in the final quarter as we closed out the match with a solid 27–18 win.

A great team performance, built on trust, consistency, and sharp decision-making. The team is looking forward to playing Bilborough in round two and Berkhamsted in ISNC in the coming weeks.

U16 v Bromsgrove – National Cup

On Friday 26th September, the U16 team played Bromsgrove in the National Cup. After a slow start, the girls showed determination and resilience to bring the score back to just one goal in it.

All the girls on court showed great defensive pressure, which was rewarded with the girls turning the ball all over the court. There were some lovely slick attacking plays throughout the game, really highlighting the strength of this squad.

Unfortunately, our consistency lacked at times, and this allowed Bromsgrove to come away as winners, however the girls fought until the final whistle and showed real promising signs within the game.

We are looking forward to seeing how the girls develop over the season, as they have so much potential – we can’t wait to see what they can achieve!

U15 v RGS – Sisters n Sport Preliminary Round

The team saw a well-earned 22–17 win, built on smart play, discipline, and full team contribution.

We had a steady start, settling into the game early and creating key opportunities to win the ball. Defensively, we applied pressure and read the play well, while in attack, our discipline in maintaining possession made a real difference when it counted most.

Our ball movement was both clever and creative, allowing us to break through the opposition’s structures and capitalise on key moments. Despite the opposition lifting their intensity in the final quarter, our early work had already set us up, and it was too late for them to catch up.

Facing frequent changing line-ups from the opposition, we adapted quickly, problem-solved on the go, and every player played their part in the win.

A great team effort built on smart decisions, composure, and trust.

U14s v Bromsgrove – National Cup

Our U14 netball team put in a spirited performance in the National Cup against Bromsgrove, showing resilience and teamwork throughout a tough match.

While the result didn’t go our way, the girls never gave up and demonstrated real character on court.

There’s plenty to build on, and with the talent and determination in this squad, the future looks bright.

U13s v Bromsgrove – National Cup

The U13 squad put in an excellent performance against Bromsgrove School in the first round of the cup. After a tough loss to them last year, it was fantastic to see how much progress the girls have made in just a few weeks.

They stayed within three goals throughout the match and even closed the gap to just one goal in the final quarter.

The team showed great support for one another and communicated effectively on court. With the teamwork and determination they’ve displayed so far, the squad looks set for a very promising season ahead.

U12A v Bromsgrove School – National Cup

The U12 A team kicked off their cup campaign with a hard-fought victory against Bromsgrove School in challenging conditions. With strong winds sweeping across the courts, the girls had to adapt quickly, relying on short, accurate passes and tight teamwork to maintain control of the game.

Communication proved difficult at times due to the gusty weather, but the team showed impressive resilience and cohesion. Despite a slow start, their determination never wavered. Through consistent effort and a shared desire to turn the game around, they clawed back into contention and eventually secured a well-deserved 18–15 win.

This performance was a testament to their grit, adaptability, and growing unity as a team. A fantastic start to the cup journey!
