Pupils Celebrate World Book Day
To celebrate World Book Day, King’s was festooned with bunting featuring book recommendations from both pupils and staff. Our School already looked gorgeous in the early spring sunshine, and the bunting only added to the cheerful mood around the school.
The theme for the staff’s recommendations was “I’m glad I read this book when I was 17”, the Sixth Form theme was “I loved this book when I was 12”, whilst the Lower and Middle years chose “The best book I’ve read this year”.
The bunting proved to be a real talking point all day and will hopefully inspire further reading.
At break time, volunteers from our Lower Remove Book Group (WRAITH) gave out copies of the World Book Day mini books to the Lower Years, a much-loved tradition here. Pupils also enjoyed book-related activities in the Library, including a fun emoji book title quiz, which was also a big success in the Houses this morning in pastoral time.
Many wonderfully creative entries were received for our World Book Day competition to design a book cover. The pupils used a range of techniques from digital design, inks, drawing, and collage all to stunning effect. There was some excellent ‘blurb’ content too; it is going to be very difficult to choose a winner – stay tuned to find out which entries are victorious!
