Pupils Lead Events for Neurodiversity Week 2026
King’s marked Neurodiversity Week with an inspiring programme of activities, organised collaboratively by the School Council and the school’s pastoral team.
Pupils played a central role in planning and delivering the events, which encouraged reflection, discussion and greater understanding of neurodiversity across the school community.
One of the highlights included Sixth Form mentors leading sessions for Lower Years pupils on Friday morning, fostering meaningful conversations in form groups. Pupils in the Lower Years also took part in a creative competition to design adverts promoting Neurodiversity Week, showcasing thoughtful and imaginative interpretations of the theme.
The school library became a hub of activity, with displays and reading lists prepared by our library staff. The specially curated new reading list can be viewed on Firefly Exploring Neurodivergence through Reading – Neurodiversity Reading List . It features fiction and non -fiction for pupils of all ages, and staff.
Elsewhere. tutor time activities and a special episode of the King’s Voice Podcast, recorded with School Council pupils, were included in the week’s programme.
On Friday, pupils and staff wore a variety of bright and bold hats alongside their uniform for “Different Hats Day”. The event provided a fun and visible way to celebrate individuality and demonstrate the importance of inclusion within the King’s community.
Alongside the in-school activities, families were also invited to access resources from The Wellbeing Hub, supporting ongoing conversations about neurodiversity at home.
Neurodiversity Week was an important reminder of the value of understanding, acceptance and inclusion, with pupils leading the way in continuing to shape a supportive school environment for all.
At King’s Worcester we understand that happiness derives from feeling valued as an individual, with the well-being of our pupils at the heart of our pastoral care. We are proud of our compassionate school community, where each pupil is given a voice, a place, and a purpose.
