RAF Cadets Win Place at National Competition
An enthusiastic team of 15 cadets from the RAF Section of King’s CCF travelled to RAF Cosford on Sunday for the regional round of the Air Squadron Trophy Competition and met with outstanding success.
Facing challenges to test every aspect of their training, they came First in General Service Knowledge, Second in Drill and Turnout and offered a very good showing in all the other stands, which included First Aid, Aircraft Recognition, Shooting, and a Leadership Command Task. Their impressive performances in each meant that they were placed third overall, out of 15 teams, securing a place at the National Final. We are very proud of all their achievement, competing as they were against some very experienced teams.
The cadets have been busy all term, organizing practice sessions in their own time after school, brushing up on their knowledge and skills, pressing their kit and bulling their boots in preparation for the competition, so it’s wonderful to see all that hard work rewarded with such success.
The pupils ranged from Upper Remove (Y10) to Upper Sixth (Y13) and half the team had never taken part before in such a competition before. We look forward to their performance in the National Final of the competition, which will be held at RAF Halton in March, where we know they really will soar through adversity to the stars.
