Supporting Malvern St James Families

We are sorry to hear the news regarding Malvern St James School and recognise how difficult and unsettling this will be for its community.

The King’s Worcester Foundation wishes to offer a supportive and practical conversation to MSJ families who may be considering their next steps for September. Where appropriate, we would be happy to discuss potential places across our schools and to answer any questions.

Contact us confidentially to arrange a conversation.

Record sign ups for Young Performers’ Concerts

Last week saw the first ever (and possibly last) Virtual Young Performers’ Concerts.

Having put the word out a few weeks in advance the Music staff were astounded and delighted not only by the sheer volume of videos that were submitted, but also the quality of those performances. As the concert day drew closer we made the decision to divide the concert in two, an event which has only happened once before in the history of Young Performers’ Concerts, and we released separate concerts for the Lower Fourths, and for the Upper Fourths and Lower Removes. Thirty performers offered thirty-two items across a wide range of styles and instruments.

If you missed the concerts they can be watched here.

Putting on this concert has certainly presented some challenges for the Music staff, with each video being trimmed, having backing tracks edited for balance, and the whole set being brought together into one file for the concert. Many thanks to Mr Allsop and Mr Taranczuk for their hard work in making this happen.

If you enjoyed these concerts then you will be pleased to know that we will now be hosting a Virtual Cleobury Concert, performed by our older pupils, released on March 25th, and an Open Mic Night released on March 19th. The Open Mic Night will be streamed live on our facebook page here.

The Music School is once again humming with activity, music spilling forth from every window and door since our return to school. We will have to wait a little longer for the return of live concerts, but in the meantime these concerts were a great way to keep the music playing!

The Music school are also releasing a series of OV virtual concerts every Friday at 1.45pm. These can also be watched on the school facebook page.
