Roman Earns First International Rugby Cap

King’s Worcester is delighted to congratulate Sixth Former, Roman W, on earning his first international cap for Jamaica Rugby and helping his country secure a silver medal at the Rugby Americas North (RAN) Men’s U19 XVs Championship.

Roman was part of the Jamaica U19 squad that competed at the Championship in Querétaro, Mexico, an important regional tournament bringing together emerging rugby talent and developing national teams from across the Americas.

Selected at number 13 (outside centre), Roman made his first appearance for Jamaica at international level and marked the occasion in impressive style, scoring a try during the campaign.

Jamaica produced an outstanding tournament, progressing all the way to the championship final against the USA. In a closely contested gold-medal match, Jamaica narrowly missed out on the title, losing 18–15 and finishing as well-deserved silver medallists.

For Roman, the tournament represents a significant milestone in a rapidly developing rugby career, while the opportunity to represent his Jamaican heritage on an international stage makes his first cap particularly meaningful.

The experience builds on his rugby at King’s Worcester, where he represents the First XV as a wing. He is also part of the Coventry Rugby Academy, giving him the opportunity to train and develop within a professional rugby environment.

Everyone at King’s Worcester is incredibly proud of Roman and what he has achieved. To earn an international cap while still at school, score a try and help Jamaica to a silver medal at a major regional U19 competition is a fantastic accomplishment.
