Rugby Season off to a Flying Start
The 23/24 competitive rugby season got off to a brilliant start last weekend.
Over 160 boys represented the School in our block fixture versus Bloxham School in Oxfordshire last weekend, with 10 teams from U12s to U18s. There were great contests across the board, with all games being highly competitive and played in great spirit. The U12s and U13s played at Bloxham, with all four A and B teams winning their games.

The U14s, U15s A and B, U16s and the Firsts and Seconds all played at home and while both the U15 teams ran away with convincing victories, 31-0 for the As and 21-8 for the Bs, all the other games ended with only a couple of points in it; they really could have gone either way. The U16s squeezed out a win by one point (22-21), the First XV just lost (15-17), as did the Seconds (12-15), and the U14As were unlucky to be beaten by a single point (19-20).
Of all the games, the U16A was the one to watch; a real nail-biter and a brilliant spectacle with some fantastic rugby played across the entire 60 minutes and the final victory in favour of King’s. After such great competition, all the teams are building nicely into this coming weekend, which will be a hard block fixture against teams from the formidable Sir Thomas Rich’s School in Gloucester. Before that, the U15As played at Home on the First XV pitch against Bromsgrove School in Round One of the NatWest Schools Cup Round One on Thursday. The team secured the victory and have progressed to the next round.
Another great game to look out for will be on Wednesday 27th September, when the First XV will play away against KES Stratford in NatWest Schools Vase Round Two; Kick-Off is at 2.45pm and all support will be most welcome. We wish all our rugby players every success as the season progresses.
