Sixth Form Cricketers Excel on Worcestershire U19s Mumbai Tour

Two promising young cricketers from King’s, Seth E and Henry H, have returned from an unforgettable cricketing experience after representing the Worcestershire County Cricket U19 Academy on an intensive training camp in Mumbai.

Seth and Henry were part of a six-strong Academy group that travelled to India in February, taking part in a specialist programme designed to develop batting against high-quality spin bowling. The camp formed part of Worcestershire’s long‑standing partnership with the Global Cricket School in Mumbai and aimed to help bridge the gap between academy cricket and the demands of Second XI level.

For Seth and Henry, the opportunity to play in different conditions proved invaluable. Indian pitches offered turn and bounce rarely found in England, encouraging them to adapt their technique, decision‑making and mental resilience. The camp focused on both red‑ball and white‑ball skills, encouraging players not just to survive against spin, but to score fluently and intelligently.

Seth and Henry received particular praise from Academy Head Coach, Elliot Wilson, who complemented their excellent partnership in the fixture against a Nottinghamshire academy, where they demonstrated mature, high-quality cricket.

Away from cricket, the experience of living and training in a completely different culture also played a key role in the players’ development, helping them grow in independence and maturity.

For King’s Worcester, our pupils’ involvement underlines the school’s strong reputation for nurturing cricketing talent, which has seen a number of pupils go on to play professional cricket and has led to its recognition in the prestigious Cricketer Schools Guide 2026 as one of the UK’s Top 100 cricketing senior schools.

For Seth and Henry, the Mumbai tour represents a significant step in their cricket journey, providing an experience that will shape their cricket both at King’s and beyond.
