It has been great to see the return of tennis with good numbers involved in after school training and matches.
Our L4 boys had their first match last week where they learnt a tremendous amount through their games, developing their knowledge of scoring and tactical awareness. It was great for them to have an opportunity to play their first-ever match so early on in the season, giving them practice and confidence for upcoming matches.
LR and UR girls had an excellent fixture against Bromsgrove last week, with some high-quality tennis on display. It eventually went to a deciding shoot out tie breaker, with the girls holding their nerve in some tennis points.
Rain certainly did not stop play as the U13’s and U15’s travelled to Malvern St James to play their first Aegon tennis fixture on Tuesday. The U13’s were particularly excited as it was their first tennis fixture and they did superbly well. All players played one singles game and then partnered up with another to play a doubles game. It was brilliant to see all of the players making use of the skills that they had been learning in training but also showed excellent development with their ability to score. A great fixture that will help all of the players moving forward.
It has also been fantastic to hear about Jack B and Izzy D-S, both U4, who have recently played for Hereford and Worcester 14&U in the County Cup. Both of them really enjoyed the opportunity to be part of a team and learned a lot from the experience.
Tennis club has been a great success so far with many pupils involved. Tennis club takes place on Monday (LR&UR), Tuesday (U4), Wednesday (Seniors) & Friday (L4).
Well done to everybody who is taking part in Tennis this year, we look forward to hearing more about future matches.
