U14s Sevens Rugby Team Shine in a Cracking Start to the Season

The King’s Worcester U14 Sevens Rugby team have had an outstanding start to their season; they have been to four tournaments so far, got to a final at each and have won three trophies! At Dean Close they beat the likes of Cheltenham College and Sherbourne College on the way to winning the Plate.

At our own tournament we lost in the Cup Final having won all our games on the way to the final, including beating Dean Close in the semi-final. At Warwick Sevens we again won the Plate, but notably beat Sedbergh in the first match of the day. At Old Swinford Hospital School last Tuesday we won the Cup, scoring 219 points in 6 games, defeating Warwick, Ellesmere, Bishop Vesey’s and Monmouth to name just a few, on the way to victory.

This has been a stunning effort by this group of boys and they will head forward into their final two tournaments, Solihull and the National Sevens in London, full of confidence.

In addition to this, the squad contains ten members of the newly selected West Midlands DPP (formerly the Worcester Warriors DPP) Team. Oli I, Oli M, Oli T, Hugo M-I, Zach T, Sam B, Jack F, Tom S, Roman W and Joe T.

Congratulations to all in what is a tremendous achievement for so many from the same year group. They will be training every Monday at Bromsgrove School as part of this selection and we look forward to their further development in the game.
