U16 Netball Team Show Outstanding Commitment at Regionals
King’s Worcester’s U16 netball team took part in the regional tournament on Sunday, having spent much of the week leading to the fixture physically and mentally preparing themselves for an excellent day of netball.
The team demonstrated excellent accountability throughout the tournament, arriving prepared, warming up punctually, and ensuring they fuelled correctly following Friday’s inspirational nutrition talk delivered to all netballers. Their approach set a strong foundation for performance and reflected a growing maturity within the squad.
The team made a confident start against Wrekin, showcasing excellent decision-making, strong drives to the circle edge, and a collective team effort to apply consistent defensive pressure. This momentum carried into the next match against Solihull, where the girls celebrated a well-earned win against a disciplined opposition. A real emphasis was placed on shutting down key players, and improved purpose of movement and timing of feeds into the circle proving crucial to our attacking success.
As the day progressed, the team pulled together impressively, adapting to the demands of tournament play and applying tactical learning effectively. This resulted in a strong goal difference across matches and highlighted the team’s growing understanding of game management.
Unfortunately, one narrow loss by a single goal in the closing seconds proved costly. With King’s, Solihull, and Edgbaston all finishing top of the group having won five out of six games, the semi-final places were decided on goal difference, meaning we narrowly missed out.
Despite this, it was an outstanding day of netball. The girls supported each other throughout, showed resilience and togetherness, and delivered the best netball they have played this season. It was a performance to be proud of and a strong platform to build on moving forward. Congratulations to all the girls.
