Outstanding Week for King’s Cross Country Athletes
Young runners from King’s were named Mr Charles’ ‘Team of the Week’ following a set of exceptional performances at the ESAA Worcestershire and Herefordshire Cross Country Cup and this week’s event at Winterfold.
Kings cross country teams had a great day at the ESAA Worcestershire and Herefordshire cross country cup.
ESAA Worcestershire and Herefordshire Cross Country Cup
King’s was proudly represented by six teams at the ESSA Cup, who all demonstrated an outstanding level of talent and determination in their races.
Kings’ athletes won three of the six races, with a further four coming in the top three and another seven in the top ten of their races.
We await the final results be we hope that a number of our teams will qualify for the regional round later in the year.
Winterfold Cross Country
King’s Senior School athletes were joined at Winterfold by children at King’s St Albans and King’s Hawford, where team spirit and a sense of community shone through as children from the Foundation schools supported each other.
Despite the unseasonally warm weather and long course, all pupils did themselves proud.
Helena Cooke won the year 7 and 8 girls’ event, with some strong performances from the rest of the girls’ team with all athletes finishing in the top 20. Well done to Hattie D, Ella J, Flissy T and Thea E.
In the boys’ event, Ben B won the year 7 and 8 race, with and George M taking second place. The boys’ team won the team competition, coming home with the trophy after fantastic performance from all athletes. Ben and George were joined by Oscar H in fifth, and Thomas E in eighth and Rory G in 15th.
Congratulations to all our young runners on their outstanding efforts!
