King’s Worcester Named National Finalist for Sporting Achievement

King’s Worcester is celebrating after being named a finalist at the Independent School of the Year (ISOTY) Awards 2026 in the Sporting Achievement category. King’s is the only school in the region, and the only day school in the UK, to receive this prestigious accolade.

This national recognition follows an outstanding year for sport at King’s. The School was ranked among the top 2% of sporting schools in the country, included among the UK’s top 100 cricketing schools and announced as an official partner of Worcestershire County Cricket Club, alongside an impressive series of successes across a wide range of sports. Six students from the Sixth Form were also awarded professional contracts in cricket, rugby and football.

ISOTY Sporting Achievement

The Sporting Achievement award recognises schools whose distinctive provision gives pupils an exceptional sporting experience and delivers outstanding outcomes. King’s Worcester is one of just six finalists from across the UK and the only day school to reach the final in an impressive list which includes Millfield School and Rugby School.

At King’s, sport is woven into daily life and reflects the school’s values of being caring, confident and curious. The broad and ambitious programme is designed to help every pupil participate and achieve their personal best, regardless of starting point. All pupils are part of a team and take part in competitive fixtures, ensuring everyone has the chance to develop their skills and build resilience, confidence and a life-long love of sport.

Foundation Director of Sport, Jonny Mason, said: “To be named a national finalist is a tremendous honour and a testament to the commitment of our pupils, staff, coaches and families. We are proud not only of the results achieved, but of a sporting culture that encourages every pupil to take part, aim high and enjoy the confidence, friendships and life skills that sport can bring.”

The winners will be announced at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards ceremony on Wednesday 14 October 2026.
