Cup Hockey Takes Centre Stage in a Busy Week for King’s
It has been a fast and furious start to the second half of term for King’s Hockey, with four cup matches in just three days alongside a packed programme of school fixtures.
The U13s got the cup action underway with a trip to Trent for the second round of the ISHC competition. The girls produced some excellent hockey, passing the ball confidently and creating plenty of opportunities. Their positive play was rewarded with a hard-fought 2-1 victory to secure their place in the next round.
On Tuesday, the U16s hosted Malvern College in the second round of the England Hockey Trophy and delivered a dominant performance. Playing with real intensity from the outset, the girls controlled the game, moved the ball quickly and were clinical in front of goal, scoring five times on their way to an impressive victory.
Wednesday saw the U18s take on a strong King’s High Warwick side in the third round of the England Hockey Trophy. Despite battling hard throughout, the girls came up against excellent opposition and were well beaten, bringing their cup run to an end.
The final cup fixture of a hectic three days saw the U14s welcome Cheltenham Ladies’ College in the second round of the England Hockey Trophy. King’s started brightly, moving the ball with purpose and creating a host of chances. They broke the deadlock inside the opening ten minutes and never looked back, continuing to dictate play and adding a further four goals to complete an excellent 5-0 win.
A fantastic few days of cup hockey, with three wins from four cup ties, and still more to come in a busy week. The 2nd XI also travel to face St Edward’s Cheltenham, while the U12 A, B, C and D teams head to Solihull on Friday.
Plenty of hockey, plenty of goals and a brilliant start to the second half of term for King’s!
