First Open Mic of the Year Features Surprise Performer

On Friday evening, King’s hosted the first Open Mic Night of the academic year — and what an evening it was!

With 20 performances in total, the night showcased an incredible range of musical talent, from seasoned performers to those stepping on stage for the very first time. Among the debut performers were Tom B, Ellie B, and Alice W (U4), who each gave impressive first performances. They were joined by Evie D and Liv O (UR), both making wonderful vocal debuts.

The evening began with an early taste of Christmas cheer – a lively rendition of “Feliz Navidad” performed by Fifth Formers Gus C, Sazan M, and Matt P. Their upbeat performance, complete with enthusiastic audience participation, set the perfect tone for the night.

A highlight of the evening came with a surprise guest appearance from the Headmaster, Mr Charles, who delighted the audience with a creative mash-up of songs based on the same four chords — including a rousing singalong to The Beatles’ “Let It Be.”

Throughout the concert, the atmosphere was warm, friendly, and wonderfully relaxed. The supportive crowd of pupils, staff, and parents created an encouraging space where everyone felt free to share their talents and enjoy the performances.

Well done to everyone who performed!
