Josh and Phoebe Secure Deals in The Hundred Auction

The school’s strong cricketing reputation has been reinforced after a current and former student were both successfully sold in The Hundred cricket auction for the 2026 season.

OV, Josh Tongue, a Worcestershire County Cricket Club Men’s Pathway graduate, secured a £200,000 deal with the Manchester Super Giants. Josh enjoyed an outstanding Hundred campaign last summer, finishing as the competition’s leading wicket‑taker with 14 wickets in just six matches. Josh regularly impresses in matches for both Nottinghamshire and the England squad, including in the 2025-26 Ashes series.

Meanwhile, current Upper Sixth student Phoebe B, 17, continues her rapid rise in the women’s game. Having been a wildcard pick for Birmingham Phoenix last season after impressing for the Warwickshire Bears in the Vitality Blast, Phoebe was sold for £27,500 and will return to Birmingham Phoenix for the 2026 competition. She has also represented England Under‑19s at the World Cup in Malaysia, highlighting her growing impact on the international stage.

The auction marked a landmark occasion for UK sport, taking place at the iconic Piccadilly Lights in London and replicating the high‑profile auction format of the Indian Premier League. It was the first time a major UK sporting competition has adopted this style of player draft.

Enormous congratulations to both Josh and Phoebe on their outstanding achievements; we can’t wait to follow their progress in The Hundred this summer.
