King’s Worcester Named Among Top Rugby Schools for Second Year Running
King’s Worcester has been included in WhichSchoolAdvisor’s ‘Top UK Schools for Rugby’ feature for the second year running, recognising a programme that combines opportunities for broad participation with clear pathways to academy, professional and international rugby.
The recognition comes as King’s celebrates a host of impressive achievements for its players, demonstrating the real-world progression available through its renowned rugby programme
Ten of the school’s pupils are currently involved in senior academies, while recent Sixth Form students, Henry H and Will D, both secured professional contracts following their A levels earlier this year. Several King’s players have received call-ups at U18 or U21 level over recent years, with representation including England, Germany and Jamaica. Current pupils are also represented in younger age-group academy programmes across Gloucester, Coventry and Worcester.
Participation remains central to rugby at King’s. Each year, approximately 300 boys from U12 to 1st XV play in more than 200 competitive fixtures during the season, with teams ranging from A to D level.
Foundation Director of Sport, Jonny Mason, said: “Our rugby programme provides genuine pathways for players to progress to academy, county, and national levels, highlighting the dedication of our players, the expertise of our coaching staff, and our strong culture of development and teamwork. At the same time, we ensure every pupil enjoys the game and develops their skills at their own pace within a supportive environment.”
