KSW Rugby Programme Delivers Exceptional Pre-Season Weekend

Our rugby programme enjoyed an outstanding weekend of pre-season action, with seven teams from U13 to U18 taking to the field and producing a series of excellent performances, all whilst pupils were still on their school holidays.

An incredible 130 pupils represented the school across the fixtures, making it a significant achievement to be able to field seven teams before the start of term. The turnout was a fantastic reflection of the enthusiasm surrounding the season ahead and the growing strength and depth across the rugby programme.

Across these six victories, the teams scored 257 points while conceding just 90, providing an excellent early indication of the quality and depth within the squads. The U18A won 45–12, the U18B secured a 45–28 victory, and the U16A edged a close contest 20–15. There were also convincing wins for the U14A, who won 47–0, the U13A, who ran out 50–25 winners, and the U13B, who recorded an impressive 50–10 victory.

The most encouraging aspect of the weekend was the enthusiasm shown by the pupils, many of whom gave up part of their school holidays to return to school, train and compete. Their willingness to get involved before the new term had even begun was a clear indication of the positive culture within the programme and the anticipation surrounding the season ahead.

The fixtures also provided an important opportunity for players to put their pre-season preparation into practice, build combinations and develop match fitness ahead of the competitive season. For the younger age groups in particular, it was an exciting opportunity to play together and begin building the foundations for what promises to be an exciting year.

The momentum from the weekend will now carry into the official opening of Saturday sport tomorrow, with a packed programme of fixtures taking place. The day will feature four hockey matches, twelve U12–U18 rugby fixtures and eight U12–U18 netball fixtures, marking an exciting start to the school’s Saturday sporting programme.
