Mr Charles Connects with Choir Schools at Annual Event
This week, Mr Charles attended the Choir Schools’ Association Conference, hosted this year by Christ Church in Oxford.
With the theme Connect, Support, Celebrate, the conference brought together representatives from choir schools and cathedrals across the country to explore the shared opportunities and challenges facing cathedral choirs, choristers, and the schools that support them.
The programme included thoughtful and inspiring contributions from a range of speakers, among them Lord Chartres, former Bishop of London, and the composer Howard Goodall, both of whom reflected on the enduring significance of choral music within education, worship, and national life.
The conference offered valuable opportunities for professional dialogue, collaboration, and the celebration of a remarkable shared tradition.
Being in Oxford for May Day also allowed Mr Charles to experience one of the city’s most evocative customs. An early start was rewarded with the sound of the choir of Magdalen College singing from the top of the chapel tower at dawn, as the city gathered below – an unforgettable reminder of the power of music to connect communities across generations.
