Pupils Enjoy a Night of Myth, Magic and Music in Malvern
Pupils from Lower Fourth to Fifth Form were excited to see a performance of The Percy Jackson Lightning Thief Musical at Malvern Theatres this week; the show proved to be a smash hit with all the students ‘wowed’ by the theatrics!
Some of our pupils were even lucky enough to meet cast member, Kanya Montecillo, who played lead character, Anabeth.
The show follows the first book in the Percy Jackson book series, which modernises the Ancient Greek myths and tell the story of Percy Jackson and his friends as they set about on a quest to find what has been stolen, Zeus’s famed lightning bolt.
The all-round benefits of engaging with live theatre are well-documented, but this production in particular was a fascinating look at a technically complex show for our Drama students, whilst Classics students had a fun fictional taste of the mythological world, and English students and avid readers were able to see a superb theatrical adaptation of Rick Riordan’s much loved young adult fiction.
It was a fabulous night out at Malvern Theatres and a fun and engaging way for our pupils to extend and enrich their studies, igniting their curiosity across theatre, mythology and literature.
