West Midlands Junior Rowing Champions

On Sunday 5^th March members of the King’s Worcester Boat Club travelled to Stourport Boat Club to take part in the West Midlands Junior Rowing Championships.

Conditions were perfect on the river, with the West Midlands junior rowers out in full force. Our crews performed extremely well across three competitive divisions of fierce racing, with King’s rowers being crowned West Midlands Champions in four events.

Champions

• J16 Boys Coxed Four  – Harry W, Tom W, Ptolemy N, Ben M & Joseph Y
• J18 Single Scull – Will P
• WJ18 Coxless Four  – Ellie N, Millie D, Freya D & Catherine R-B
• WJ16 Pair – Rebecca N & Amelia V

Will P below showcases his bronze and gold medals after winning the J18 Single Scull. 

Our UR Boys Quad Scull of Toby A, Fred M, Luke M, Charlie M-W and Rowan C, deserve special mention in claiming a silver medal, missing out on the title by less than a second across the 1800 metre course.

• James S and Charlie W in the J18 Double Scull
• Jack D, Josh L, Elliott B & Jude A in their J16 Quad Scull
• Josh L in his J16 Single Scull.
• Nick D in his J17 Single Scull

• WJ15 Quad Scull  – Darcey W, Eliza P, Sophie E, Jess M & Holly O
• J15 Single Scull – Toby A
• WJ16 Quad Scull – Emily A, Beatrice B, Tilly B & Amy S
• J18 Quad Scull – James S, Ollie B, Will P & Charlie W
• J15 Double Scull – Richie C & Joseph R.

James S, Ollie B, Will P & Charlie W celebrate their J18 Quad Scull bronze position. 

This West Midlands event also served as a selection event for the forthcoming national competition, The Junior Inter Regional Regatta to be held in April at the National Watersports Centre in Nottingham. Three crews from King’s have been named to take part in this event, representing the West Midlands Team.
