Sea of Pink as King’s Netballers Support Breast Cancer Awareness
The netball courts at King’s were bursting with colour and community spirit as we hosted the first-ever “Pink Match” in support of the Worcestershire Breast Haven Unit.
This vibrant event marked the beginning of what we hope will be a long-running tradition, dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer.
A spectacular sea of pink took over the day, as players dressed in fabulous pink fancy dress, from bikini tops to socks and full costumes. The atmosphere was filled with positive vibes as everyone joined in a fun and energetic mass warm-up, setting the tone for an evening of unity.
Everything from the bibs to the food and drinks followed the pink theme, demonstrating the creativity and commitment of everyone involved.
Lexi Cragie, charity director, spoke highly of the King’s netballers, commenting: “Thank you so much for the opportunity and to all the girls for being so forgiving with us given many of the team hadn’t picked up a Netball in 20+ years! It was a positive and empowering experience.”
King’s has a strong relationship with Worcestershire Breast Haven Unit, having previously supported the charity through special events, including last year’s million metre row, which raised over £7000 for the charity.
Many thanks to Lexi for her vision and enthusiasm for the evening. We are also grateful Mr Charles, who also came to the courts to cheer on the teams and support the cause, even donning a pink bib for the occasion!
The Pink Match was a powerful reminder of how sport can bring people together for something bigger than the game. Here’s to this being the first of many.
