Supernatural Spotlight Showcases Young Talent
It was a short but definitely sweet Spotlight cabaret this week as our talented young performers showcased their growing talent.
Our programme had evolved so there was a common thread of the supernatural running through their pieces, with our Lower Years duo, Georgia and Zara, who gained this term’s places, creating an entertaining repertoire and giving commanding performances despite their young age.
Georgia got the evening underway with a haunting rendition of “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from “The Phantom of the Opera”, before Zara performed the Ariel’s monologue from The Tempest, matching Shakespeare’s verse with exuberant physical theatre as the crafty spirit.
We then moved into the magical forest of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” for Zara and Georgia to perform a lively comic duologue as Hermia and Helena respectively.
Zara’s musical theatre offering was from “The Little Mermaid”. She gave a powerhouse performance as Ursula of “Poor Unfortunate Souls”.
Georgia then closed the evening in perfect fashion with Puck’s farewell from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.
With our Seniors taking all the plaudits last week in the truly outstanding production of “Chicago”, it’s a delight to see our youngest Spotlight performers showcasing such talent and giving us a glimpse of future production successes.
Well done to both!
