Strong Performances at the ESSA West Central Cross-Country Competition

On Tuesday, 5th November, four dedicated teams from our school made the journey to Bromsgrove to compete in the ESSA West Central Cross-Country Competition. Having qualified from the County Round before half term, our athletes were prepared and eager to give their all on the challenging courses. The event provided a fantastic opportunity to test their skills against some of the strongest teams in the region.

After a team warm-up led by our Senior Boys, the Junior Girls’ race was first. Every member of the team ran impressively, with a standout performance by Helena C., who finished in 6th place. The team placed 7th out of 16 teams, a pleasing result in such a competitive field.

The Junior Boys took on the next race, performing very well as a team to secure 5th place. Freddie P. ran a particularly outstanding race, finishing 3rd out of 93 runners and leading the team with a stellar performance.

The Senior Girls followed, showcasing strong running in a large field. The team finished 6th, narrowly missing 4th place by just 2 points. Lucy T. delivered an impressive performance, finishing in 6th place with an excellent time.

Finally, the Senior Boys tackled a challenging 5km course, delivering an excellent performance to finish in 7th place, with Ben G. as the first runner home for the team.

Overall, it was a highly positive and impressive day for all our cross-country runners. The camaraderie between the different age groups was a highlight, and it was fantastic to see athletes placing in the top 10 within such strong regional fields. While no teams qualified for the National Finals, all four teams finished in the top half of the competition and should feel very proud of their achievements.
